Before I read the article, I had Little Miss Sunshine in mind. It's a wonderful example of how the printed page can open itself up to the best that actors can give, I think because of that seamless integration of what you're calling Character, Plot, and Theme. I've seen Michael Clayton but not read it, and have missed out on both counts with Up, so that's next in the queue.
