An interesting new direction on an old spin.

1. Jambalaya. I have medium-high expectations on Chinese covers (see comment below). Overall, I didn't find this version higher than I would have expected. The weak link, I think, is the banjo. There are dozens of better players. But I found the erhu playing redemptive. I would watch this group again for that reason alone.

2. Barbie Girl. I don't know the movie or the original song, but I found this performance far more moving than the few "hits" from the soundtrack that I've heard so far.. Yes to both questions. Devlin would probably sound good singing the phone book.

3. September. The vocalist is not weak, but I think he's the weak link. The rest of the band does the number justice. I don't know the original very well, but I wasn't surprised by the cover. No, Yes.

4. Can't Help Falling in Love. The instrumentation is superb. I would normally have appreciated the vocal here, but (I can't find the reference) someone on Medium posted this video, and it blows everyone (including Elvis) out of the water..

More interesting than expected, but definitely would listen to the band again.

Re Chinese covers: There are a number of versions of western pop songs. This is my favorite artist:
