Almost nobody gets the "creepy and bizarre" aspect of Music for Airports. It's not relaxing music--instead, it creates the sense of anxiety that you get while waiting for a plane.

And I think your original interpretation of the meaning of "warm jets" is valid. Look at the playing card on the cover.

Here's a bonus track for you: According to Eno, on the June 1, 1974 live collaboration album, the brilliant musicians assembled there (including Mike Oldfield and John Cale) hadn't tuned up their instruments for "Driving Me Backwards," and the is gloriously discordant and ominous. Oh yeah, Eno's voice is even more grating. Brilliant stuff.
