About a decade ago I played around with VoiceXML, to the extent that I picked up a general understanding of how Interactive Voice Response works. The accuracy of IVR calls has improved over the years, but talking to a non-human over a phone line is still a frustrating experience, and I’m not crazy about my limited chatbot experience either. Still it’s saving companies a lot of money — in the short run.
