A Wistful Back to School Playlist for 1968

What I wish I had known when I started college. Or maybe not.

Plethora of Pop’s most recent challenge “Songs for your back-to-school playlist” may be one if its fruitful, given the senior superlative responses (original challenge). What would school (at any level) be like without a selection of songs to help us survive the experience? In my case, it’s an “if only I had known” retrospective for 1968. I hadn’t yet heard these songs at the time, but they would soon shape my world — and decades later they might have an impact on yours.

It was the 60’s, man!

Like most first year students in 1968, I started college with a sense of freedom and optimism. The world was crap, but give me four years of academic study, and I’d be able to fix it. This is a playlist of songs that I hadn’t yet heard. I’m uploading them here to let my naïve self from the past know how things would actually turn out. Not that my naïve self would have listened.
