A noble and significant undertaking. Looking forward to the posts.

I skimmed the first 500 (from an online list based on the book), and the choices seem solid--often preferring musical quality instead of popularity. Still, it's subjective. I believe they should have included "Sallie Gooden" by Eck Robertson from 1922, often considered the first recorded country western song. But it's important not just because it's first (or tremendously influential), but because it's so damn good.
