We never get the obituaries we deserve, but here’s a decent one for Neil Innes from the Guardian.

The passing of Innes may not mean much to most people (perhaps a sigh of sadness from Monty Python fans and a mild “Hurrah!” from the members of Oasis). But with Innes’ passing, intelligent fans of pop music have lost their John Lennon (our Paul McCartney having died in a house fire in 1995).

I’ll start the series of tributes off with a Bonzo Dog Band song that would be a fitting tribute, Slush. I don’t know what they’re playing at Innes’ funeral, but I’d be honored if they used it at mine. (lyrics)

Stay tuned for further appreciation.
