A fine and empathetic profile. In the late 60's or early 70's, I wrote a letter to Jazz and Pop magazine (it got published!) answering a writer's question about what "pataphysical" meant on Soft Machine 2, and also praising Robert Wyatt's voice. The passage by Michael Hofmann does a much better job of course.

The Unthanks released an album of covers of songs by Robert Wyatt and Anthony and the Johnsons (Diversions I). I wouldn't say the vocals are BETTER than the originals, but they hold their own.
