A few years ago, I listened to "London Calling" to see what all the fuss was about. I was expecting some sort of polished, power punk album. Boy, was I surprised (and impressed) by the eclecticism. It takes real courage and talent to pull off something like that and still be authentic. I haven't lived with the album enough for it to be in my top ____, but I certainly respect the choice of anyone who elevates it to a #1 spot.

The most daring double album (in my small universe) would have to be Soft Machine Third (from 1970): four sides, each with a single composition. Definitely not rockist.
