A couple of weeks ago, I would have probably argued with you about Bernie’s chances. (I usually only argue with Bernie supporters about over-optimism or attacks on other Democrats.) Now it seems that Sanders has a decent chance against Trump. Based on what I’ve seen of his campaigning, if Sanders does get the nomination and loses, it won’t be his fault. I like Sanders’ platform; my reservations are mainly about style, not substance (and certainly not about electability, since no one knows who’s electable any more).
I don’t think I’m overestimating Trump — he’s going to act viciously and irrationally and to an extent shrewdly. I may be overestimating the vicious irrationality of his supporters — I certainly hope so. Limbaugh’s recent attack on Buttigieg doesn’t seem to be paying off.
You’ve done a fine job advancing not just Sanders’ ideals but the underlying and complex issues, in terms of both facts and human experience. I’ve gained a lot of insights from your posts. Keep up the good work.
Nice positive article in Vanity Fair about Sanders’ chances, and in The Atlantic criticizing the Berniephobes.
