A breakup story with a happy ending.

I was in Athens until just before 1983, and though I never went to the 40-Watt Club, I almost got a chance to play there. I jammed around with Neil, whom I worked with in the library and the husband of someone else I worked with ("jammed" implies that I could play the tiny Farfisa type organ I had, which I could not, but it was the 80's). Neil told us at one of our improv sessions that he knew someone at the 40 Watt Club and might be able to get us a gig there. The gig never materialized (I don't remember if it was our lack of material or just one of those possibilities that never turn into a reality). But I stayed in grad school and finally finished and wound up in academia. Looking back at the road not taken, I'm not so confident that I made the right choice.
